Many people had obstacles they had to conquer and even when one was taken care of, another had to be addressed. For instance, Chris Thorsten, an iron worker, had thought that you weren't an iron worker until you got hurt or killed. You can read this here. A Rent Party hostess, Bernice, had been left with a $60.00 a month apartment when her husband left her. This may not seem like a lot of money for us nowadays, but back then it was a lot to handle, even when you don't have a job, like Bernice. Hear her say this here.
